Indian Art News

We all have our favorite art work that we love to look at again and again. One that has been an inspiration for a painting or a sculpture. Or one that you would like to own if possible. One that speaks to you. One you would like to have hanging in your house, but can't. Not a problem. Just share it with all of us.

My favorite is the Nataraja. The longer I look at it, the more it speaks to me.

My in laws stay in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. Just close by is a famous and historic town called Badami (Vatapi). We happened to take a day visit to the wonderful Badami Caves. There happens to be a small art gallery mainly consisting of the sculptures that have been excavated in and around the town. One of the sculptures that deeply intrigued me was that of "Lajja Gauri", the Indian goddess of fertility. Quite Exquisite.

There is a wiki page on it.
