very nice work, subtle yet speaks for itself. Add your works on bestcollegeart.com to be discovered by top art enthusiasts, eminent art collectors and top art curators. Thanks, Archana, Best College Art.
I am a professional artist, designer cum academician. Last 23 years I have been working in the field. I have completed my BFA and MFA from Visva -Bharati University and Ph D from Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT). Presently working as Associate Professor at Dept. of Design, IIIT Guwahati.
I have always been fascinated by the study of nature and the people around me. They inspire me to create and to understand life better. The relationship of human beings, their feelings, joys and happiness, sadness and their complex behavior sometimes stimulate me to think and to analyze certain deeper aspect of life. Elements of real life influence the visual presentation. I took these aspects as a subject matter of my painting in the 90's. In some of the works nature comes across as a symbol of the inner void of human life, where flying butterflies appear as a symbol of hope and expectation.
Presently I'm working on a series of landscapes where I try to extract the basic essence of the subject matter and also try to extract the essence of image, but make it merge in colour and creating a pictorial atmosphere that penetrates into space. I had engaged myself in looking for universality in folk art forms and have exploited some design formats in my paintings now to attain to that pristine simplicity, I have used simple geometrical shapes and colors that we find in folk art and tried to place them in different contexts.

" Of all the acts abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that
you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for
composition and for colours, and that you be a true poet. This last is
essential."
Hello Utpal!
Hope you are doing well ! and Greetings from The Fuschia Tree ! We are an Art Gallery based in Hong Kong and New Delhi . The Fuschia Tree has about 500 artists from 24 countries registered on its website.
We’ve established an honest platform for artists to show their works and are proud to announce the launch of our new art initiative called "The Fuschia Futures". The Fuschia Futures is therefore an ideal place for young, emerging, revolutionary artists working across various mediums such as sculpture, painting, video, installation art, and photography. Hi Utpal, I am lover of abstract art. Will not try to flatter you, but i totally agree with your quote...that you have to be a true poet to be an abstractionist. One of our recent shows of another artist -Awadhesh Misra, should be of interest to you. This is only for your information please.
Once again like to emphasise your composition and color coordinates are great.
